2024 Honda Pilot Price, Pictures, Release Date & More | The Kelley Blue Book (2023)

The 2024 Honda Pilot deserves its place at the top of the 3 Series midsize SUV because it's such an exciting and complete package. We expect pricing for the 2024 model to start around $37,000.

After launching an all-new generation last year, the Pilot heads into 2024 with a host of features that continue to impress. This includes plenty of space for passengers and cargo, a range of standard safety features and a refined yet powerful engine.

Comfort comes first in both seat design and suspension tuning, and the impressively capable TrailSport allows the Pilot family some off-road adventures. Meanwhile, business as usualHondaFeatures of reliability, build quality and compelling resale value are also part of the Pilot package. We even like the bold styling of this latest generation.

Honda Pilot 2024 prices

We expect the price of the 2024 Honda Pilot to be around $37,000. For reference, the 2023 version starts at $36,300. All-wheel drive costs about $2,100, and a fully loaded Pilot will top the $50,000 mark.

2024 Honda Pilot LX$37,000 (estimate)
Honda Pilot Sport 2024$40,500 (estimate)
2024 Honda Pilot EX-L$43,000 (estimate)

What's new for 2024

Since this fourth-generation Pilot arrived just a year ago, we don't expect any major changes to the lineup for 2024.

Driving the 2024 Honda Pilot

Refined 3.5-liter V6 drives the Honda Pilot with a pleasantly muscular 285 horsepower. Progress is smooth and quiet, with enough power to easily reach highway speeds when hauling family and luggage. We also found the standard adaptive cruise control and lane keeping function to be accurate and responsive — among the best in class and ideal for both long drives and stop/stop traffic.

Around town, we like the compact turning circle (one of the tightest among midsize SUVs). It makes maneuvering easier, especially in combination with light but precise steering and ideal braking feel. The Pilot's ride quality has also been tuned to provide comfort on bumpy city roads while maintaining composure on the highway.

The TrailSport can tackle slightly rough terrain. It has its own special suspension setup for better axle articulation and more wheel travel than the regular Asphalt Pilot and sits a centimeter higher. This results in a comfortable ride even on rough surfaces.

We've spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collectionMid-size SUV with 3 rows, including the Honda Pilot.

Efficient interior

This is one of the most spacious interiors in the entire 3-row mid-size SUV segment. Most versions of the Pilot seat eight, although optional second-row captain's chairs available on the EX-L and TrailSport trim down the seating to seven. In addition to increasing the level of comfort for passengers in the second row, the resulting passageway facilitates access to the third row.

The Pilot has 14 cupholders, eight of which can hold 32-ounce bottles. And the center console storage space can accommodate an iPad or other type of tablet. Of course, the top-of-the-line Elite version has fine materials, such as perforated leather seating surfaces, as well as plenty of technology. The middle model TrailSport is also well equipped.

The front seats look nicely shaped and supportive, certainly comfortable enough for long journeys. Ample second-row legroom measures 40.8 inches, slightly more than the equally roomy Kia Telluride. We found that kids can be absolute champs at finding reasons for pain, but they can't complain about the 32.5 inches of legroom in the third row. Only the Chevrolet Traverse and Dodge Durango can do better here, each at 33.5 inches.

As for cargo space, the Pilot has 18.6 cubic feet behind the third row, expanding to 87 cubic feet with rows two and three folded. This is certainly roomy, but similar to rivals.

Our favorite features and technology

Finger rest
The problem with touchscreens is that you have to touch them. You could drive over the beat and suddenly end up with Liszt when you want Lizzo (or vice versa). The touchscreens in the new Pilot (7-inch on the Sport, 9-inch on the rest of the range) are set into the panel by nearly an inch, giving users the ability to secure their hands while entering data. Those are the little things.

Help in traffic jams
Under the right conditions, the Honda Pilot can drive itself very well in slower freeway traffic. Just keep your hand on the wheel to let it know you're paying attention, and it'll start, stop, and manage miles at once. It works very well and is standard across the lineup.

Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
Only the base LX and Sport trims require a cable. The rest of the Pilot range has wireless smartphone integration as standard. We just love the convenience.

(Video) 2023 Honda Pilot | First Drive

Wireless phone charging
Fits the above four equipment as standard. It's great to see features like this make their way out of expensive vehicles and onto more affordable rides.

Removable/storable seat
Touring and Elite models have a removable center seat in the second row. The resulting gap facilitates access to the third row. The seat can then fit under the boot floor, ready for when the pilot needs 8 seats again. We picked him up. it is not very heavy - about 35 kg.

Walk far near
An electric tailgate is standard, along with an automatic locking function. But the Touring and Elite trims also have a Walk Away Close feature for the rear doors.

Engine and transmission

The Pilot 3-Series midsize SUV uses a naturally aspirated (no turbo or supercharger) 3.5-liter V6, just like its predecessors. But this produces more power than any pilot has ever enjoyed while retaining the smoothness and refinement that Honda's V6 engines are known for.

Power output is 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. But some rivals have more. The Kia Telluride, for example, has 291 horsepower, and the Chevy Traverse brings 310 ponies to the races.

A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to front-wheel drive (FWD) in base form or to an all-wheel drive (AWD) system that's standard on TrailSport and Elite trims and optional elsewhere.

Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds — plenty for an ATV trailer or several motorcycles.

3.5 liter V6

262 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm
EPA combined fuel economy (2023): 22 mpg (FWD), 21 mpg (AWD), 20 mpg (TrailSport)

Warranty 3 years/36,000 miles

Honda's new vehicle warranty is three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Drive systems are covered for five years or 60,000 miles. All this is typical for the class. Honda also includes free scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

KBB vehicle inspection and evaluation methodology

Our expert ratings come from hours of driving and number crunching to make sure you're choosing the best car for you. We test and thoroughly analyze every new SUV, car, truck or minivan sold in the US and compare it to the competition. When all that dust settles, we have our ratings.

We require new ratings every time a brand new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes out. In addition, we re-evaluate these ratings when a new-generation vehicle gets a mid-cycle refresh - basically, creating a car midway through a product's life (typically, around 2-3 years) with a minor facelift, often with updated features and technologies.

Instead of pulling random numbers out of thin air or some meaningless checklist, KBB editors rank a vehicle where it belongs in its class. Before any car earns KBB's rating, it has to perform better (or worse) than the other cars it competes with while trying to get you to spend your money on a purchase or lease.

Our editors drive and live with a specific vehicle. We ask all the right questions about the interior, exterior, engine and powertrain, ride and handling, features, comfort and of course price. Does it serve the purpose it was made for? (Whether that purpose is efficient commuting to and from work in the city, keeping your family safe, feeling like you've reached the top — or are on your way — or feeling like you've finally reached the top, find the right partner for your lifestyle .)

We run every vehicle we test through the usual—parking, lane changing, support, cargo space and loading—as well as the basics—acceleration, braking, handling, interior quietness and comfort, build quality, material quality, reliability.
