The 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 features six trims and four powertrain options from the trusted Vortec engine family. GMC also offers specific trim packages that provide additional comfort, engineering, suspension and appearance features.
Important points
- Equipment variants for theGMC Serra 2013are varied, from basic to extremely well equipped, and include the Work Truck SL, SLE, SLT, XFE and the luxurious Denali.
- When it comes to powertrain options, the 4.6 liter V6 is exclusive to the Work Truck only, while all E85, flex fuel and Vortec V8 engines (4.6, 5.3 and 6.2 liters) are available for other trim levels.
- The Work Truck is the base trim level, but it has features not available on the more expensive SL. An example of this is the external engine oil cooler.
- Although SLE is considered an intermediate model, it has the most options and packages available. Only SLE and SLT can be present in all cabin configurations.
- The Denali is the only trim level offered with AWD, and the XFE is only offered in 2WD. The rest of the fairings can be in both options.
2013 Sierra 1500 Work Truck is ready to go with a 315hp 5.3L V8 and towing package
The Work Truck (WT) rolls off the assembly line, standard with the 4.6-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission. The availability of either a 302hp 4.8-liter V8 or the 315hp 5.3-liter V8 (with active fuel management) further expands its capabilities. Here are some more options and packages to add more functionality to WT:
- High performance cooling package with external engine oil and transmission cooler, electric fan and high performance cooler
- Preferred Work Truck Package with power door locks, remote keyless entry, EZ-Lift tailgate with lock (normal and extended cab only)
- Work Truck Plus package with 17" chrome steel wheels, chrome grilles and fog lights (normal and extended cab only)
The SL lacks unique features and doesn't feel like a step up from the work truck
Next on the equipment list is the SL. While the SL is offered only in versions with extended cab and crew cab, it comes standard with more power thanks to the 302 hp 4.8 liter V8. However, this is the one attribute of the SL that sets it apart from all other finishes. This is still a good commuter, though, and can still tow 6,700 pounds (in two-wheel drive) and give owners a decent 19 miles to the gallon on the highway. Some SL add-ons include:
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel that can be equipped with audio controls
- Integrated trailer brake control
- Skid plate pack that protects the underbody with frame mounted shields
The SLE sits in the middle of the lineup, but trumps all other trims in terms of safety, comfort, and technology options and packages.
From SL comes SLE, but tops the entire list of combos and add-ons. It is available in all cab types (regular, extended and crew cab) and is powered by one of the Vortec V8 engines (4.8L, 5.3L and 6.2L). Add packages like All-Terrain plus Chrome Essentials and you can make the SLE feel fancier than the higher-spec SLT.
Here are some SLE fairing packages:
- SLE comfort package: Includes electrically adjustable pedals, universal remote control and remote vehicle start, rear parking assistant and heated rear window (extended cab and crew cab only).
- Preferred SLE package: Equips the SLE with steering wheel-mounted controls, dual-zone climate control, six-way electric driver's seat, CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth compatibility, EZ-Lift tailgate and fog lights (Extended Cab and Crew Cab only) .
- SLE White Diamond Edition: Includes White Diamond Tricoat color, chrome mirror caps and door handles and side moldings with chrome accents.
- Z71 off-road suspension package: Adds high-flow air filter, off-road shocks, heavy-duty skids, and decals.
- terrain pack:Starts with Z71 suspension package equipment (plus towing package) and adds 18-inch wheels wrapped in P265/65R18 on/off-road tires, electrically heated (and electrically adjustable) door mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rancho shock absorbers, fog lights, and carpet mats with the "All-Terrain" logo.
2013 GMC Sierra 1500 XFE is a variation of the SLE Trim and delivers 22 mpg highway
The XFE is technically a variant of an SLE with a crew cab and two-wheel drive. It was assembled with selected components to improve fuel economy. With the weight savings and improved aerodynamics, the XFE was able to set a recordEPA fuel economy of 22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined.
The XFE is a 2WD Crew Cab Sierra 1500 SLE and adds/modifies:
- 5.3 liter aluminum block V8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and Eton differential
- 3.08 final gear ratio
- 17-inch aluminum wheels with P245/70R17 low rolling resistance tires
- Aluminum lower arms and spare wheel
- Mole head
- air barrage
SLT has increased towing capacity with towing package and improves off-road capability with Eton limited-slip differential as standard
The SLT comes second to the Denali, with nearly every comfort and safety feature included as standard. It comes standard with the 5.3-liter V8 and six-speed automatic and adds all the other features like Bluetooth compatibility, dual-zone climate control, 10-way power leather seats and steering wheel-mounted controls. To top it all off, GMC equipped the SLT with the towing package, heavy-duty cooling package, limited-slip differential and outboard engine oil cooler.
Other options are:
- High performance suspension package when equipped with 20" chrome aluminum wheels
- Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS
- 403 hp 6.2 liter V8 available
- Ultrasonic rear parking aid
- Electric sunroof with universal home remote control
The 2013 Denali is the only AWD model and offers premium interior options not available on most models.
The Denali is the top-of-the-line trim level of the 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. It's the only trim to offer standard all-wheel drive and the 403-hp 6.2-liter V8. The exterior sets the Denali apart from other trims with body-colored front and rear bumpers, chrome door handles, and electric and heated mirrors with integrated turn signals. The interior also features standard features unique to Denali:
- Six-disc CD player with MP3 and AUX input
- Centerpoint-Surround-Sistema de som
- universal remote control for home
- Heated, leather-trimmed, color-coded steering wheel
- Color-coordinated floor mats for first and second row
2013 GMC Sierra 1500 has a lot of technical and safety features spread across all trims, but SLE is the best overall value
If you're in the market for a full-size pickup with the intention of using it primarily as a work truck, the Work Truck trim is your best bet, especially considering the more expensive SL has fewer options available.
However, if you're looking for 200+ horsepower to haul and comfort that meets your needs (and budget), you'll have better luck with the SLE Crew Cab with the 4.8-liter V8 engine. With the SLE as a double cabin, you get the availability of a variety of different packages (like the White Diamond and All-Terrain packages) that are sure to tick the boxes on your bucket list.

2013 GMC Sierra SL is a super awesome truck and can carry any weight you need.
I like my truck a lot. I've had it for 3 years and haven't had a lot of problems with it. I bought it with about 85,000 miles on the odometer and have never had any problems with the engine, transmission, etc. GMC is a very reliable truck company and I would strongly encourage others to buy it. This is the best truck I've ever driven and I don't want to drive any other trucks. I've driven many other trucks, but this one is by far my favorite.

Overall good vehicle. Very reliable Sierra SL 2013
The interior door handles could be reinforced. Mine broke down when the vehicle was only 3 years old. Smooth vehicle. Drives like a car. It has enough strength to pull a boat. The tailgate latch gets sticky and now hard to lock. I don't like the extended cab tailgate as it opens in the opposite direction. Makes it difficult to load groceries in the store. Mileage is fine 16 mpg. could be a little better

2013 Denali 1500 GMC. Amazing truck with great transportation options.
It is a four wheel drive vehicle that gets about 13 mpg. The only issue I had after 76,000 miles was that my stabilizer bar pins broke and had to be replaced. It drives smoothly and can carry heavy loads on its back, which I have with a bed full of wood, a pallet of grass and a pallet of blocks. Visually, the front bumper has gained a little rust, but that's because the metal is exposed because of the paintwork hit by rocks. Plenty of room front and back.

Nice used 2013 GMC Sierra work truck.
I really like it, bought it used a few years ago and have 90,000 miles on it and it still runs great. Had tailgate issues but it's a work truck so that was to be expected. The interior is good, as is the body shape. It's decent on the throttle and handles well when towing or on the highway or both. All in all it's a great truck and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable work truck.

It has a 3.8 liter V6, less than 50,000 miles, 2013 GMC Work Truck Pickup Sierra.
I bought my vehicle in 2013 when it was new and have never had any major issues with it, it has run less than 50,000 miles. I recently had to buy a set of four Dunlap truck tires before winter break. I love the way this truck drives. I could drive anywhere I wanted. It has tried it with no issues and as long as I service it annually it runs like a champ.

Heated leather seats. I will never buy a GMC Sierra again without the slt package.
The only issue I had with my truck was that the fuel pump didn't work for the first 10 miles of ownership. The dealer was happy to provide me with a loaner vehicle and fixed the problem within a day. Aside from the oil, brakes, and tires, I haven't had any issues. It's a wonderful drive and gives me the option of a 4x4 for those snowy Maine winters.

The most reliable and best performing truck on the market. Sierra 2013 work truck
My truck is very reliable. I don't have a problem with that. I will definitely be a regular customer and plan to buy another GMC Sierra soon. They currently have the old extended cab model. That's my only issue with the truck. I wish it was a real crew cab to have more space in the backseat, but other than that I love my vehicle.

2013 GMC Sierra 1500 SL under test.
Performance is good, comfortable ride, quiet engine, I've had this truck for 5 years and had to do minor maintenance other than the usual stuff (like headlights, battery change). Comfortable seats, great air conditioning and heating. Radio and speakers are good. I loved that it came with a spray-on duvet cover. Overall I am satisfied with this vehicle.

2011 GMC Sierra SLT 1500 com motor 6.2L.
Great performance, decent fuel consumption. The big engine has fantastic torque even at highway speeds. I wouldn't mind improving the fuel economy, but it's a truck and fuel economy isn't everything. I have an extended cab and prefer that to the double cab, but as my daughter gets older I will definitely need to upgrade to a larger cab.

The 2013 Sierra Work Truck sound system is beautiful
Perfect for work, a little pricey for gas. Enough space in good hidden storage compartments around the vehicle. Sound system is perfect. The truck is more comfortable for the driver than anyone else in it. Perfect for travel. Perfect for children's parental controls. I have to park a little further away, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

2013 Denali 1500. Good family vehicle that will last.
The truck's dashboard broke. But with 100,000 miles it was really reliable. And our family can count on it. We had to replace the engine mounts. The mechanic told us he had seen this a lot on these vehicles. Nice roomy seats, heated and cooled seats and steering wheel.

Cutting edge pulling abilities with 2013 Sierra SLE
Very good and reliable truck for my commute to work. The only issues I have are cosmetic. All exterior door handles were loosely attached to the vehicle. I love the interior very much. It's very comfortable and spacious! The rear view mirrors fold at the touch of a button. All around a great vehicle.

A robust vehicle for work and play with reasonable fuel consumption. 2013 Saw SLT
My 2013 GMC Sierra is a very reliable vehicle. It's been hard since I took it off the road for hunting and fishing activities. The 5.3 liter engine is powerful, fuel efficient and has excellent towing capabilities. The heated leather seats and dashboard amenities really complete the package.

GMC1500 SL 2013 truck for family and work.
Great truck in every way. The mileage when buying and driving across the states has been incredible. The color option highlights the truck for its performance. I haven't had any issues with him yet because we've taken good care of him the entire time. Recommend GMC for vehicle purchase.

Performance and qualities of the Sierra 1500 SL 2013 vehicle.
Overall performance is great. I love my 4wd truck Runs great, no issues with it on the 2013 model. One downfall among a few is the fuel consumption. Not great for big families. Great vehicle if you want to tow something or use it for work purposes. For the most part, the great choice has never let me down.

2013 Sierra SLT has a beautiful pearly white paint job.
No problems, everything works. My car is comfortable, very roomy and a very reliable car. All electronic functions and fuel-free car. Car performance is great, a V8 on the highway and a V4 on back roads. A full tank of fuel can last up to a week and a half.

I love my 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 SL!
It's durable, good on gas for its size, and an overall comfortable ride. Plenty of space in the back for ATVs, camping equipment and the like. If I could do anything about it I would just like power windows, but I'm not complaining too much! Definitely recommend!

2013 GMC Sierra Sle is worth every penny.
I had no problems with my vehicle. It is very reliable and has taken me across the country more than once. Engine and oil tank were never a problem. On the highway, the average is about fifteen miles per gallon or more. Overall I am very satisfied with the vehicle.

The 2013 Sierra SLE has great weather whether it's for use or just picking up people.
This truck is comfortable with padded leather seats and lots of leg room. The engine was also reliable with 120,000 miles. Almost no hassles or costs other than traditional maintenance like oil changes and new tires. A little pricey for a truck.

The 2013 GMC Sierra SLE truck rocks my world!
This has been a great truck for me. The extended cab is great when I go shopping. I'm a landscaper myself, so of course I use the back of my truck all the time. This truck has always been reliable and I really miss the storage capacity when not driving.

Best truck I ever had! 2013 GMC 1500 Denali
Extremely comfortable and easy to drive, but also gets the job done. I can carry my horses and hay easily and I haven't had any complications so far. This is pretty much everything you could want from a truck that is your daily driver and has to do farm hauling on top of that.

2013 GMC Sierra 1500 Slt is great!
Great vehicle. It works for us like a family truck and takes us where we need to be. It's decent on the throttle and comfortable overall. It was a great vehicle that I learned to drive and got my driver's license. We hope to have it for longer before we update.

Big red my 2013 GMC Sierra SLE truck that I love.
It's a red GMC truck with an extended cab. It has electric doors and windows. It also has a good heating and cooling system. It also has storage compartments under the rear seats. It's black and gray inside. You get about 17 to 20 miles per gallon.

2013 Denali 1500 GMC is very comfortable
My truck has the Denali package and it is very smooth to drive. My only complaint is that I'm ready for a new one. It is very comfortable for rides of any length.

I own a silver 2013 GMC Sierra SLE, it is reliable and easy to use.
I've had the caravan for 4 years. My saw was reliable and top notch.
